      <image:title>Our Ethos - Wind, Rain, Sun, Snow</image:title>
<image:caption>Tiny Wilds children enjoy outside play, all year round, whatever the weather! The wind shows us how seeds are spread and helps us understand the weather systems. The rain makes spider webs sparkle, it makes puddles for splashing in. The sunshine lets us take off our shoes, and watch the flowers grow. The snow reminds us that winter is upon us, a time to hibernate and rest.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Ethos - Sensory Play, Active Learning and Enriching Experiences</image:title>
<image:caption>Sensory play fun is incredibly stimulating for a child’s brain and supports fine and gross motor skills, cognitive growth and social skills. There are so many creative and nature based opportunities to explore sensory activities at Tiny Wilds, both inside the yurt and out. We create space for child-led play, and we understand that sometimes adult initiated learning can be beneficial too. We believe children learn best through doing - active learning - and through having enriching, engaged experiences.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Ethos - Love, Respect and Understanding of the Natural World</image:title>
<image:caption>Caring for our environment and being responsible in the decisions we make is central to our ethos. We believe that teaching children about the natural rhythms of nature and fostering a love, respect and appreciation for our natural world, will be the most effective way of helping them to be responsible residents of our beautiful planet. We focus on natural resources inside and outside classrooms, and are mindful to reuse and recycle, creating an environment free from plastics whenever possible.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Ethos - Exploration, Discovery, Courage, Resilience</image:title>
<image:caption>Children at Tiny Wilds have the space to be creative, to run, jump, climb; to learn confidence and personal boundaries, all surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscape in the UK. We explore the natural world on a daily basis, and allow children to take risks in a safe space, helping them to develop their courage and resilience.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Ethos - Kindness, Compassion, Communication</image:title>
<image:caption>At Tiny Wilds we mix the age groups of our children for many reasons. Research demonstrates that children learn more easily from each other than from adults and we believe a mixed-age group environment promotes healthy relationships, similar to a family scenario. Children learn much like brothers and sisters, where younger children learn from the older and the older children have opportunities to build confidence by passing on what they’ve learned and develop social skills with their younger peers, such as kindness, compassion and communication. We actively guide children in how to resolve conflict when necessary, and teach kindness, compassion and mutual respect.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Ethos - Freedom of Choice, Creative Expression</image:title>
<image:caption>At Tiny Wilds we support the children to be themselves, supporting their freedom to develop without being tamed. We aim to give them the freedom to experience the full expression of their natural creativity. We work to create a space where children can flourish and feel safe, yet independent. Ultimately, a child’s innate curiosities and interests are what drive their learning, so at Tiny Wilds we allow the children to play an active role in deciding their focus each day.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Ethos - Emotional Wellbeing, Mindfulness</image:title>
<image:caption>At Tiny Wilds we encourage children to be holistic in their approach to life, sharing tools with them so that they are able to connect with themselves, body, mind and spirit. We introduce them to mindfulness practices, yoga, dance, creative play and many other activities that help them to connect with themselves. We help them to express their feelings, helping them understanding that no feelings are wrong and guiding them to express them in a healthy way.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Ethos - Story Telling</image:title>
<image:caption>Stories are powerful. They teach us morals, values and history; they can make us think about things in ways we might have never thought of before. They can make us laugh and they can make us cry. We find that children love to hear the same story many times and relish in the repetition which deepens their relationship with the story - until they are sure they have obtained everything they need from it. Sharing stories is a part of every culture and it helps us connect with one another.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Ethos - General Silliness</image:title>
<image:caption>A day with the Tiny Wilds children is never without a joyous dose of nonsense play, silliness and clowning around. We hold up laughter, whooping and squeals of happiness as little flags of triumph!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Day - Our Rhythm</image:title>
<image:caption>There is no such thing as a typical day at Tiny Wilds. Depending on where the children guide us, each session is a little different. We do however, have a daily rhythm that is conscious, consistent and fluid, helping children to feel held, secure and able to engage fully in their day. The day normally begins with outdoor play in summer months whilst all the children are dropped off. We then come together in our respective settings for morning circle, where we pause and listen to each other, acknowledging special moments like seasonal changes and birthdays. The circle encourages unity, respect, and turn-taking. At the end of our circle we discuss our plans for the day - possibly someone has the desire to be creative with paint, water, or perhaps dressing up as tigers!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Day - Exploratory Play</image:title>
<image:caption>After circle we spend time in the Tiny Wilds nature garden, where the children have space to be creative, to run, jump, climb, and take risks safely. There are places to be quiet, cosy and reflective too. Children can free-flow between the inside and outside learning environments, whatever the weather, engaging in sensory play and exploring sensory activities. Singing and music are also part of our daily life, as well as making time for gardening, painting, dancing, yoga and movement based games.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Day - Quiet Time</image:title>
<image:caption>After lunch, we stay together for lots of shared stories. This is usually followed by a group discussion, encouraging children to ask questions or challenge topics that we have been reading about. The children at Tiny Wilds are told many marvellous stories: fairy tales, nature stories and ancient folk tales from varied cultures. Story times are always a very important moment in the day, engaging their imaginations, helping them to focus and to relax.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Day - Winding Down</image:title>
<image:caption>As we come to the end of our day we begin to engage the children in clearing things away. We encourage the children to have involvement in this daily activity for as long as their interest lasts, teaching them how to tidy up in a way that they will not recognise as a chore. Finally, we all wind down together at the end of the day with some yoga, singing, listening to music, all before a final story. Although our daily routine remains consistent, a child’s personal care and needs will be met whenever required throughout the day - nappy changing, toileting and rest times happen in harmony with the individual child.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Spaces - Outdoor Environment</image:title>
<image:caption>The outdoor environment offers rich learning experiences and, here at Tiny Wilds, we are fortunate to have access to some of England’s most wild and unspoilt landscape. The enclosed Tiny Wilds garden is a sectioned off part of the Farm house garden and offers a secure oasis of wild flowers and fruit trees in which children are free to run and play, with paths mown through the long grass, a growing area for our veggies, willow dome, sweetpea tipi, a digging patch and mud kitchen. The farm animals live a short walk from our home space, and the river is just a run, hop and skip through the secluded fields.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Spaces - We have a beautiful willow dome that was created by the Tiny Wilds community - parents and children alike were involved in the process and this special space provides a child-sized den. Our outdoor environment is not only limited to the beautiful grounds we have to explore at and around the Farm. Visits to the post office, park, shops and the bus station are important places we include in outdoor learning that help children learn and understand about the world around them.</image:title>
